Virtually Married

Privacy Policy

A little promise can be personal. Here is how Virtually Married handles the details you share with us.

1. Information we collect

When you create an invitation, we collect both names, your email address, the other person’s email address if you provide it, your chosen date and vow. We also record whether the invitation has been accepted, the purchased pack and the information needed to make your keepsakes.

For an order, we record the payer’s email, amount, currency, payment status and payment reference. Stripe processes card details; our application does not receive or store your full card number or security code.

Our hosting and service providers may process connection and technical information, including IP addresses, browser information and request logs. The application uses a hashed connection identifier to limit repeated invitation requests.

2. How we use these details

We use your details to create and deliver invitations, record both people’s participation, generate personalised files, process payments and upgrades, provide download access, send service emails, resolve problems and protect the service from misuse.

The current service does not use your invitation details for advertising or send marketing newsletters. We do not sell your personal information.

3. Inviting someone else

Only provide another person’s details if you have permission to do so and they would reasonably welcome the invitation. If you enter their optional email address, an invitation email is sent automatically. If you leave it blank, you share the private link yourself.

If someone invited you, we received the details from them. You do not have to accept or pay. You may request removal of your details.

4. Private links and shared keepsakes

Your invitation and download links act as access keys. Anyone with a link may be able to view the names, date, vow and invitation status, take the action available through that link, and access purchased files. Keep these links private and send them only to the intended person.

When either person pays, both people’s links gain access to that purchase. Delivery emails go to the payer and, where an email address is available and delivery is supported, the other participant. Do not assume an email has arrived unless delivery is confirmed.

Sharing a keepsake on social media makes the information on it visible to your chosen audience. We cannot control copies other people save or share.

5. Service providers and overseas processing

We use Vercel for website hosting, Supabase for the database and private file storage, Stripe for payments, Resend for service emails, and Porkbun for our support mailbox. They receive the information needed to perform those services. Information may also be disclosed where necessary to meet legal obligations or investigate misuse.

These providers may process information outside Australia. The production hosting locations, relevant overseas countries and provider arrangements must be confirmed before public launch.

6. Browser storage

We use session storage in your browser to remember your invitation draft and support the creation and sharing flow. Clearing browser data may remove that draft. The current website does not include advertising pixels or optional analytics trackers. Payment and hosting providers may use their own necessary cookies or similar technologies.

7. Storage, security and retention

We use restricted database access and private file storage. Original downloads require purchase access and use temporary download URLs. These measures reduce risk, but no online service can promise absolute security.

There is currently no automatic deletion schedule in the test build. Before launch we will set and disclose retention periods for invitations, files, delivery logs and backups. Order records may need to be retained for accounting, disputes or legal obligations. Save your downloaded files; do not rely on the website as permanent storage.

8. Access, corrections and privacy requests

You may ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or request deletion. We may need limited information to verify that a request concerns you. See the Data deletion page for the proposed process and its effect on shared files.

For privacy questions, complaints, corrections or deletion requests, email hello@getvirtuallymarried.com. Depending on your location and the laws that apply, you may also have rights to contact a privacy regulator.

9. Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and identify the revision date. Material changes affecting existing information will be communicated where required.
